Day 52: Wendover, UT to Wells, NV Total Distance: 61.2 mi Moving Avg: 9.3 mph Moving Time: 6:35 Today kinda sucked. The first annoyance was the stealth mountain. The map had Silver Zone Pass marked at the only pass between Wendover and Wells. So, I naturally assumed when I climbed 1500' to the pass I was at the maximum for the day. Nope. Not even a little. There was another large climb not much further, then another smaller one, both of which were taller than the first. The lesson: maps don't tell all. Of course, my laptop would have told me. Poor bling. Next, I got another flat front tire. The culprit was a 1cm long bit of radial tire belting wire. The stuff has a way of getting into tires. The tire isn't kevlar belted, so I guess I'll get more flats. The rest of the day featured strong headwinds and rain. Joy. I think I'm just ready for the trip to be over. I don't have much longer and I'm sure I'll make it, but somehow the excitement is gone. It may be that I know I'll make it. Before, there was always a big challenge left. Now it should be pretty clear sailing.
