Day 18: Centerville, IN to Indianapolis, IN Total Distance: 69.2 mi Moving Avg: 9.8 mph Moving Time: 7:05 Climbing: 1500 ft Elev: -280 ft Route Summary: US 40 W to Random Streets of Indianapolis Another day. Pretty uneventful. There were mild headwinds most of the way, but nowhere near as bad as the last two days. At this point, I can now more authoritativly say that IN drivers are obnoxious. I got three "get on the sidewalk" yells today. The only really notable thing about today was getting to play Nick Navigates through the city of Indianapolis. Usually, getting through a city is not very fun on a bike, but it is very liberating to have one's destination be "the other side." I knew I needed to go about 10 miles west and about 1 mile north. I just kept going west until either the street ended, or started to suck, then I would go north until I found another westward street that didn't suck. I ended up stopping at a motel most of the way through the city because the sun was getting really low. I'd forgotten that shifting time zones meant earlier sunsets. I guess I should *get up earlier* so that I avoid having a low hanging sun in my eyes. That would be nice. I called the people I'll be staying with in Urbana, and confirmed that I'll be coming in on Sunday night. I'll also be taking a rest day there, so I might get to meet some other brothers there, and tour their campus. It is definitly time for a rest day.
