Day 60: Placerville, CA to Vacaville, CA Total Distance: 97.8 mi Moving Avg: 11.9 mph Moving Time: 8:13 Well, I made a little miscalculation. I thought Winters would be 60 miles. Nope, it was 80. So I didn't get as far as I hoped today, despite having gone further than I planned. I still think I'll make it tomorrow, but it will be a longer day than I hoped. I spent most of today in various bike lanes and bike paths. Through Sacramento was the American River bike path, which was really quite pretty. Coming out of Sacramento was a bike path by the side of the freeway. It was smelly and loud, but somehow it was cool. It was clearly a utilitarian path, and I saw a bunch of people who were obviously commute bikers. Davis was, as advertised, the bike capitol. I really wish I could have spent more time there. I saw more bikes than cars, which was kinda cool. In town it was mostly very casual bikers, but for a radius of about 15 miles I kept running into more serious riders. Everywhere I turned, there were bikes! I'm really glad I didn't have the trailer. I'm sure I wouldn't make it on Saturday with it. This is my last night on the road. It hasn't really sunk in at all. Maybe it will tomorrow. Who knows.
